Larimar is only found in one place in the world, the Dominican Republic. Not only can you find this in one area, but the mine only covers one square kilometer in the dense rainforest. Only 10% of mined Larimar is found in jewelry. Unless a new mine is discovered, Larimar will only keep increasing in value. In the 1980’s the stone could be found just beneath the surface. In the early 2000’s digging had gone 20-30 feet deeper. Now, digging has gone 600 feet! Making supply for this gem harder to find.

Larimar has been declared the national stone of the Dominican Republic since 2011.

Larimar is considered a “water” gem and is known to bring calmness to the wearer.
