Jewelry Care
Jewelry Care
-
We suggest using either a non-abrasive jewelry cleaner or mild soap and water with a soft toothbrush on your jewelry. Always make sure to wipe off with water and dry your jewelry completely after cleaning.
-
Do not use any products that contain alcohol, this can ruin the finish.
-
Unless wearing fine metals, apply lotions and perfumes and let them dry before putting on jewelry.
-
If your jewelry is really tarnished, you can use a mix of baking soda, lemon juice and water. Scrub it on with a soft cloth or toothbrush, wipe off, and dry.
-
After cleaning, you can buff your jewelry with a soft cloth to give it a nice finish.
Storage & Preservation
-
Don’t wear your brass or sterling silver jewelry in the shower or swimming. Water can be harsh on metals.
-
Avoid storing brass and gold-plated jewelry in the bathroom or humid environments. Humidity is very bad for metals and will cause them to tarnish.
-
To store your metal jewelry, wrap each piece in soft fabric and store in an airtight bag. Try to store each piece separately so that different materials don’t scratch one another.
-
Your brass jewelry will change color with time and wear - it may start to take on a patina or darker areas, which is completely normal. Some people like this personalized look of brass, and others prefer it shiny. In any case, if you want to clean your brass jewelry, follow the instructions on jewelry care.

It is the copper in brass and bronze that might cause your skin to turn green, and this likelihood is increased if your jewelry comes in contact with water. As such, if you're wearing a brass ring, it is most likely to leave a green mark on your skin when you sweat or wash your hands. This is generally not harmful or painful (it is just oxidation of the metal) and will go away. If it bothers you that much, you can put a thin layer of clear nail polish on the part of your jewelry that touches your skin and you will not have this issue.
